  • Catalogue Essay

The base of this table, a casket carrier, perfectly embodies a rare, transitional moment in American decorative art history. ‘Token’ remnants of decoration, in the form of small cast ornamentations, are unapologetically and almost begrudgingly screwed onto an industrially produced folding aluminum frame, marking the sometimes-tentative transition to industrial Modernism.
